Get ready for Fairtrade Fortnight
Thursday 4 February 2016 4pm for 4.15pm–5.30pm, at Montgomery DEC, 79 Queen Street AB10 1AN
We will discuss a wide range of Fair Trade resources, focusing on how schools can engage in Fairtrade Fortnight (29 February–13 March 2016). There will also be the opportunity to network with teacher colleagues and share tried and tested Fair Trade initiatives and activities.

Carbon Busters
Thursday 11 February 2016 4pm for 4.15pm–5.30pm, at Kittybrewster Primary, AB24 3QG
Climate Change Week starts on 14 March, culminating with Earth Hour on 19 March. We will look at all aspects of teaching Climate Change, includes floods and food security. You can also find out how your class can participate in an exciting Arts project about reducing your carbon footprint.

This Sunday, 31 January, in Aberdeen – Holocaust Memorial Day event

Please join us at the Belmont Filmhouse Aberdeen at 2pm for a showing of Night Will Fall – a 1945 documentary commissioned by the Allies and under the tutelage of Alfred Hitchcock that captured the atrocities in Nazi concentration camps. Please note that this film contains harrowing images.

Five Nations Development Projects 2016 – applications open

The Five Nations Network is a unique forum sharing practice in education for Citizenship and values in England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

They have funding available for five development projects in 2016, for teachers who wish to create a small project that supports their work to develop citizenship education or education for active citizenship in their school.

GREC Anne Frank Awards 2016

Anne Frank AwardThe GREC Anne Frank Awards aims to promote equality, children’s rights and positive relations between all people.

Entries to the scheme are invited from primary and secondary schools throughout Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City and Moray. Please submit evidence of work or activities around the themes of Equality, Diversity, Global Citizenship and Human Rights in order to receive recognition and your GREC Anne Frank Award Certificate 2016.

All schools submitting an entry will be awarded a certificate of recognition.
