Our new Fair Trade shop on Union Street, Aberdeen opens on 13 August – volunteers needed!

Aberdeen for a Fairer World is about to open a Fair Trade shop at 44 Union Street (next to Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant).

During July we are cleaning, painting and preparing the shop for its grand opening in mid-August.

From 13 August we will be trading Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am – 4pm and have an initial lease until the end of September

Aim of our Fair Trade shop

The core purpose of this fair trade shop aligns with our organisation’s aim: to promote fair trade, highlight and teach about global issues.  Part of this promotion is to sell fairly traded goods and, by offering a wide range products, we hope to raise demands in Aberdeen for fair trade products and encourage other businesses to pledge for fair trade.

Want to volunteer?

As a volunteer you will be selling fair trade goods, serving coffee and helping to keep the shop tidy during opening hours.

A member of AFW staff will manage, open and close the shop each day and we will meet your travelling expenses.

If you would like further information or wish to volunteer in our shop, please contact us:

Hannes Sundkvist: mdec.hannes@btconnect.com or Nicholas Care: mdec.nicholas@btconnect.com

or email the Montgomery Development Education Centre: montgomerydec@btconnect.com

We look forward to hearing from you – and please feel free to share this information with anyone who might be interested, whether as a volunteer or a future customer!

Thank you
