Fairtrade Fortnight 2017
Described by Fairtrade Foundation as “a fun-filled highlight of the year” and an opportunity to show support for marginalised producers all over the world, Fairtrade Fortnight is all about connectivity and taking action for global justice. This year’s theme of the Fortnight is: It’s time to put Fairtrade in your break.
Why Fairtrade School Award?
Being a Fairtrade School means joining a worldwide movement where participants will have the power to make a difference. The scheme offers ways to explore global issues, especially around the supply chain of products. It also highlights how we are connected and gives opportunities for pupils to act and make a visible impact.
Aim and Session
The aim of this session is for attendees to gain more knowledge about Fairtrade and how it can be implemented within several curriculum areas. In the session we also encourage attending teachers to share their own experiences and best practices.
Material and Resources
Everyone attending will be given a range of resources, including this year’s Action Pack from Fairtrade Foundation. Other material which will be highlighted during this CPD is produced by Oxfam Education and Traidcraft Schools. All resources are designed to gain a deeper understanding of issues in the global supply chain, as well as encouraging you to take further action.
The outcome of this session is for teachers to gain confidence in addressing global issues and to embed fair trade into their teaching. Attendees will also gain knowledge about the latest material and become familiar with several ways in which to raise awareness on global issues by using fair trade as narrative.
