FREE CPD Session: Teaching Rights in Context – Miniature Earth Learning Project, Monday 26 November 2018, 4 – 6pm at MDEC in Aberdeen.

You are warmly invited to join us at Montgomery Development Education Centre (MDEC) for this CPD session, which will focus on using the unique Miniature Earth Learning Project to explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals alongside Children’s Rights, whilst placing both in a local and global context.

The Miniature Earth Learning Project (MELP) is structured to enable active learning, independent and group-based research and critical thinking to produce an end presentation that can be celebrated at our annual event in May 2019. It is also clearly linked to many areas of the CfE, as mapped out in the resource handout, which will be available at the session.

If teachers wish to engage with this project, follow up support will be provided through mentoring sessions, team-teaching opportunities and a range of resources from our partner organisations.

When: Monday 26 November 2018, 4-6pm

Where:  Aberdeen for a Fairer World/Montgomery DEC, 45 Victoria Street, Aberdeen AB10 1UX (Girlguiding Aberdeen building)

Booking via Eventbrite:

Please share this around your staffroom and with your teacher friends and colleagues!

Is Aberdeen too far for you to travel to on a school day?

We are looking for schools in Moray, North Aberdeenshire, South Aberdeenshire and West Aberdeenshire to host one of these sessions. All you need to provide is a room with a laptop and screen, some refreshments and some willing teachers. We will then promote this around our network and invite teachers from local schools or who live in your area to come to the session.

It’s a great way to network and a lovely excuse to drink tea together while finding ways to really embed Global Citizenship and Rights education in your class and school!
